Nano Brows instead of Microblading

By 11. December 2025February 19th, 2026No Comments4 min read

At BBZ Bali, we now perform only very few classic Microblading treatments. Instead, Nano Brows have become one of our most requested PMU techniques – often booked multiple times per day.

This shift is not a trend. It is the result of professional evolution, deeper skin understanding, and our commitment to long-term, natural-looking results.

In this article, we explain in detail why we clearly recommend Nano Brows over Microblading today.

1. The Origin of Microblading – and Its Limitations

Microblading was developed in Asia in the late 1980s – over 35 years ago. At the time, it was a revolutionary method for manually drawing fine hair strokes into the skin.

The technique uses a small handheld tool equipped with a blade made of multiple tiny needles aligned in a row. This blade creates small cuts in the skin, into which pigment is manually implanted.

Immediately after treatment, the results can look very beautiful and defined. However, compared to modern techniques, Microblading is relatively invasive:

  • Small cuts are created in the skin
  • The skin is mechanically opened
  • Bleeding occurs more frequently
  • The healing process can be uneven

Especially with sensitive, mature, or thin skin, we often see stronger redness, uneven healing, or reduced pigment retention.

Another important factor: alcohol consumption or blood-thinning medication the day before the treatment can increase bleeding, which negatively affects pigment retention and healing quality.

2. Longevity and Color Behavior of Microblading

Microblading often looks very defined during the first months. However, in practice we frequently observe:

  • A durability of only 6–12 months
  • Uneven fading
  • A slightly greyish or ashy color shift in certain skin types

If cuts are placed too deep or too densely, the skin structure can be affected long-term.

3. Nano Brows – Modern Precision Technology

Nano Brows do not use a blade. Instead, they are performed with a high-precision PMU machine and an ultra-fine single needle.

Rather than creating cuts, pigment is implanted in a highly controlled manner into the upper skin layer with minimal trauma.

This means:

  • No cutting
  • Significantly less skin stress
  • Reduced bleeding tendency
  • Smoother healing
  • Cleaner, softer hair strokes

The machine allows for precise depth control, which is essential for long-term beautiful results.

4. Natural Appearance and Longevity

One of the greatest advantages of Nano Brows is the natural overall look.

The fine strokes appear softer and more harmonious, blending better with existing brow hair. At the same time, the pigment fades evenly over approximately 1.5 to 3 years, depending on skin type and lifestyle.

Touch-ups can be performed gently and precisely to refine color or shape over time.

5. Why We Changed Our Approach at BBZ Bali

Our decision to clearly favor Nano Brows is based on:

  • Skin health
  • Long-term result quality
  • Predictable healing
  • Natural aesthetics
  • Client satisfaction over many years

We do not follow trends – we follow results.

Microblading was the standard for many years. But techniques evolve – and so do we.

Conclusion

Microblading was the method of the past.
Nano Brows are the present – and the future.

More precise.
More gentle.
Longer lasting.
Beautifully natural.
